Apartment blaze in Seattle kills five

SEATTLE, (UPI) -- Seattle firefighters say five people were killed when a blaze ripped through an apartment house in the city's Fremont neighborhood Saturday.

A fire department spokeswoman told The Seattle Times some of the victims were children, though details were still being confirmed.

The blaze broke out in a two-story building on N.W. 41st Street about 10 a.m. PDT and was knocked down in about 40 minutes. Three people were treated at a nearby hospital.

Witnesses told the newspaper they saw a woman fleeing the structure with a baby in her arms.
