Ariz. wildfire 55 percent contained
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., (UPI) -- A wildfire north of Flagstaff, Ariz., was is 55 percent contained Sunday and some firefighters were being sent home or to other assignments, officials said.
Since Friday, more than 200 firefighters have been released from the Schultz fire just north of the city, leaving about 750 firefighters still working the fire, Naztoday.com reported Sunday.
Firefighters were conducting mop-up operations and widening containment lines around the fire, which has burned 15,000 acres.
Other crews are removing dangerous burned trees that could fall, and re-establishing fire lines that were dug with bulldozers.
Fire managers are estimating the blaze will be fully contained by next Friday
Officials say they are continuing to search for those responsible for the fire, likely caused by an abandoned camp fire, Naztoday.com said.
