Arsonists target 'political' message truck
KANSAS CITY, Mo., (UPI) -- A semi-truck trailer parked by a Missouri highway, painted with a political message, has drawn fire -- literally, as it's been set afire twice, authorities say.

David Jungerman, 72, a Raytown, Mo., farmer, parked the truck with its professionally painted message, "Are you a Producer or Parasite. Democrats -- Party of the Parasites," next to heavily traveled U.S. Highway 71 south of Kansas City, The Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported Sunday.

On May 12, the trailer was doused with gasoline and set afire, the newspaper said.

After volunteer firefighters put out the flames, a week later the trailer was set ablaze again.

Then an empty farmhouse owned by Jungerman was set on fire.

"They don't like free speech," said Jungerman, who has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Local Democrats have denounced the arson fires, and Jungerman says the message isn't aimed at them anyway.

"No, I meant the national Democrat parasite base that is sucking this country dry," Jungerman says. "The ones that just take from the government and not give anything back."

He's not even a die-hard Republican, says Jungerman, who voted for Missouri Democrat Claire McCaskill when she won a U.S. Senate seat in 2006.
