SOUTH BERWICK, Maine, -- Maine State Police said Sunday they were investigating the death of an unidentified young boy whose body was found along a remote road.
The body was discovered by a resident in South Berwick about 5 p.m. Saturday, the Maine Sunday Telegram in Portland reported.
The child was described as between 4 and 5 years old, 3-foot-8, 45 pounds with dirty blond hair and blue eyes. He still had his baby teeth, state police spokesman Steve McCausland told the newspaper.
He was wearing a gray-colored camouflage, Faded Glory hooded sweatshirt, tan-colored khaki pants and "Lightning McQueen" black sneakers.
He said there have been no reports of a missing boy fitting the child's description.
"Our main priority today is to identify this boy," McCausland said.
Authorities were on the lookout for a navy blue Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with white license plates from an undetermined state that may be linked to the investigation, he said.
McCausland said an autopsy had yet to be performed and the cause of death had not been released.
