Chicago sings out for 'Glee' spinoff

CHICAGO, -- The casting director for a spinoff of the popular television series "Glee" says it is hard to say no to the hopefuls at this weekend's auditions in Chicago.
More than 2,000 singers of varying skill gave it their best shot Saturday and Sunday for Robert Ulrich, who is filling out the cast for the Oxygen Network reality series "The Glee Project."
"What's hard and horrifying is saying 'no' to people" trying out," Ulrich told the Chicago Sun-Times. "The truth is there are so many terrific people."
The newspaper said singing alone was not the only criteria. Those who made it past the first round had to have that certain something that, Ulrich said, "audiences will fall in love with."
That something better be good because there are only a dozen spots open on the cast and Ulrich still has open audition pending in Dallas next month.
