Copter ends up in San Diego Bay
SAN DIEGO, A helicopter trying to make an emergency landing on a bridge wound up splashing into San Diego Bay Sunday evening, authorities said.
The pilot, who was the only person on board the aircraft, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, San Diego's KGTV-TV reported.
KFMB-TV in San Diego reported police said the 69-year-old pilot tried to put the helicopter down on the Coronado Bridge shortly before 6:30 p.m. The TV station said the pilot, who suffered head cuts, told authorities the aircraft lost power shortly after taking off from a charter yacht docked nearby.
The cause of the crash was being investigated.
