Dad, son killed in eatery shooting
RIVERSIDE, Calif., (UPI) -- A Southern California man and his 8-year-old son were shot and killed Saturday in a restaurant by a relative who took his own life, police said.
The man's wife and another son were wounded, Los Angeles' KTLA-TV reported.
Police said the shooter was believed to be the wife's 58-year-old stepfather. They said he came to the Del Taco Restaurant in Riverside on a bicycle and went inside armed with two semi-automatic weapons.
The 29-year-old husband, his wife and the two boys were eating lunch when they were shot.
The gunman shot himself in the head, causing a mortal injury, police said.
The surviving boy was reported to be in stable condition at Arrowhead Medical Center. His mother underwent emergency surgery.
