Davydenko cruises to Croatia Open win

UMAG, Croatia, Top-seeded Nikolay Davydenko had no trouble in his second-round match Wednesday at the Croatia Open tennis tournament.

Davydenko dispatched Stephane Robert 6-1, 6-2 in 53 minutes. Davydenko won 79 percent of the points in the match and lost only nine points in eight service games.

All the seeded players on Wednesday's schedule advanced to Friday's quarterfinals.

No. 8-seeded Juan Ignacio Chela was on the court more than three times longer than Davydenko in his 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (4-7), 6-1 victory over Simone Bolelli. Chela won all but three of the points off Bolelli's serve in the third set in earning a quarterfinals berth against Davydenko.

No. 4-seeded Juan Carlos Ferrero and sixth-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov will also play against each other Friday. Ferrero topped Pablo Cuevas 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, winning only one more point overall (93-92) in the match.

Dolgopolov took out Franco Skugor 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 in his second-round match, saving all five of the break-point situations he faced.
