Day leads Barclays, Woods wilts
PARAMUS, N.J., -- Jason Day of Australia shot his second straight 4-under-par 67 Friday, taking the lead at The Barclays from Tiger Woods, who stumbled to a 2-over 73.
Day, who won the Byron Nelson Championship this season for his first PGA Tour victory, sits atop the leaderboard at Ridgewood Country Club with a two-day total of 8-under 134.
Woods, who had led after the first round with a 6-under 65, had problems on the back nine Friday as he bogeyed four holes to fall four strokes off the pace with a 138. He stroked 33 putts, six more than Thursday.
"I didn't putt well at all," Woods said. "I didn't have the speed at all on the greens. I was leaving it way short or blowing it by the hole. Couldn't figure out the speed."
Phil Mickelson, the No. 2 golfer in the world who is fourth in FedEx Cup points, shot a three-over 74 and missed the cut at four-over 146.
Vaughn Taylor, who had matched Woods Thursday, posted a 1-under 70 and for a second-place tie with Kevin Streelman, who carded a 63 Friday. They are knotted at minus-7.
Stewart Cink (69), Martin Laird (67) and John Senden (69) share fourth place at 6-under 137.
