DeGeneres: I didn't submit myself for Emmy
LOS ANGELES, (UPI) -- U.S. television personality Ellen DeGeneres says she didn't submit her name in the Best Talk Show Host Daytime Emmy Award category this year.
DeGeneres won the prize four consecutive years, then lost out last year to the five-woman panel of "The View," the Los Angeles Times said.
"I didn't submit myself for the Best Talk Show Host Emmy this year," DeGeneres said on her Web site Wednesday, the day nominations were announced. "I feel my steroid use gives me an unfair advantage."
No more serious reason for the decision was given, the Times said, however, speculation is that DeGeneres is following in Oprah Winfrey's footsteps and taking her name out of the race because she wants to give others a chance to win.
