Director sentenced for assistant's death

MUMBAI, (UPI) -- Bollywood film director Kaizad Gustad was sentenced to a month in jail for the death of his assistant director on the set of "Bombay Central" six years ago.

The BBC said Gustad will not spend any more time behind bars, however, as he was in jail for a month during his trial at the end of which he was convicted of a "rash and negligent act."

Nadia Khan, a 26-year-old Briton, was struck and killed by a train while standing on a track during the film's production in Mumbai.

Authorities said Gustad's crew did not have permission to film on the tracks, and reported the director initially claimed Khan died in a road accident.
