Earl prompts Virgin Island warnings

MIAMI, -- Hurricane Earl was about 150 miles east of Barbuda in the eastern Caribbean Sunday evening, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
At 5 p.m. ET, Earl was packing winds of 85 miles per hour and headed west-northwest at 14 mph, the center said.
The government of Antigua and Barbuda issued a hurricane warning for the British Virgin Islands. A hurricane watch was in effect for the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, including the islands of Culebra and Vieques.
The hurricane center said a tropical storm warning was in effect for the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Tropical Storm Earl became Hurricane Earl Sunday and was on course for the Northern Leeward Islands, U.S. weather forecasters said.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Danielle was blowing in the middle of the Atlantic, but was quickly losing strength Sunday.
