(CNN) -- A murder suspect who broke out of jail over the weekend was captured Sunday, hidden among high weeds at a pond near where he grew up, said McClain County, Oklahoma, Sheriff Don Hewett.
Squads of sheriff's deputies and state troopers had mounted house-to-house searches around Blanchard, Oklahoma, looking for 27-year-old Shaun Bosse.
"He offered no resistance and he is in custody at this time," Hewett told reporters.
Investigators said Bosse overpowered two guards and stole one of their cars when he broke out of jail in Purcell, south of Oklahoma City, on Sunday morning, McClain County Undersheriff Bill Shobe said.
Sheriff Hewett told CNN that the Pontiac Grand Prix was found near Blanchard, about 25 miles west, on Sunday afternoon, and a witness spotted him running away from the car.
At least one helicopter helped guide squads of heavily armed police in the searches. Before Bosse was captured, Hewett said he did not believe the suspect was armed, "but we still consider him dangerous."
Bosse is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of arson in the July 2010 deaths of 24-year-old Katrina Griffin and her children Christian, 8, and Chastity, 6, according to CNN affiliate KOCO. Bosse has friends and relatives in the Blanchard area, Hewett said.
Asked how Bosse was able to overpower two deputies, Hewett said, "We're asking the same question. We're doing an internal (investigation) at this time."
The deputies are "fine," Hewett said. "They're not hurt at all."
The bodies of Griffin and her two children were found in a mobile home that had caught fire, according to KOCO. Authorities said Griffin died from eight stab wounds, Christian had been stabbed five times and Chastity died in the fire, KOCO said.
According to court documents, Bosse told investigators that he and Griffin had been dating for about two weeks, KOCO said.
Bosse was described as being about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 215 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.
