'Field of Dreams' farm for sale
DYERSVILLE, Iowa, The owners of the Iowa farm where the baseball diamond for the 1989 film "Field of Dreams" is still maintained are asking $5.4 million for the property.

Don Lansing, 68, and his wife, Becky, said the Dyersville property, which an estimated 65,000 annual visitors are allowed to wander free of charge, still houses the film's titular field and they have been keeping the cinematic landmark maintained for two decades, the Boston Globe reported Tuesday.

Don Lansing said the high asking price, which has been the subject of criticism from locals, was not motivated by greed.

"I don't want people thinking we're greedy," he said. "We're not greedy. If we were greedy, we'd be charging people $20 (for admission). We are not in this for money. We did this for the love of the game. It's about making other people happy and making their dreams come true. Our philosophy was to keep it simple and serene so people can leave with a smile on their face."

Becky Lansing said the couple lives almost entirely on Don's pension from his 30 years as a forklift operator.

"We are tired," she said. "We need somebody else to take the 'Field of Dreams' to a new level."
