Float plane crashes in Canada, killing 4
CHICOUTIMI, Quebec, An amphibious plane trying to land in bad weather in northern Quebec crashed, killing four people, the Canadian military says.

Canadian Forces Search and Rescue said the crash occurred late Friday afternoon near Chute-des-Passes as the plane flew from Lac Morang to Lac des Quatres, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Two of the six men on board were injured and were flown to a hospital in Chicoutimi. Sgt. Benoit Richard of the Quebec provincial police refused to identify the people on the plane, although he said five of them had the same surname.

The plane, a De Havilland Beaver equipped with floats for landing on water, was owned by Air Saguenay. Investigators said the pilot made an emergency call just before the crash, reporting bad weather and saying he was trying to land.
