A new organization of students who attend for-profit colleges is launching at a time when for-profit schools are facing increased scrutiny.
Students for Academic Choice got considerable help getting off the ground from the College Career Association, the main lobbying group for for-profit colleges. The association helped students set up a website and draft bylaws.
Critics questions whether the student group is a mouthpiece for the industry. But the association says it's extending a a helping hand to busy nontraditional students who otherwise wouldn't have a voice.
