Gaffney would be Broncos' Plan B for Marshall

The Denver Broncos' backup plan for Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall(notes), for now, looks to be Jabar Gaffney(notes).

Gaffney has been the starter opposite Eddie Royal(notes) during minicamps and knows the offense of new coach Josh McDaniel from their days in New England. If Marshall does play for the Broncos this season (he requested a trade in June), Gaffney could be the Wes Welker(notes) in the new scheme as a productive third receiver.

That doesn't bode well for Brandon Stokley(notes), who is reliable but was brought in by the team's previous regime of Mike Shanahan.
