Gaza 'aid' convoy delays sailing

JERUSALEM, (UPI) -- A flotilla of ships staffed by a political movement allegedly taking humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip did not sail Friday as expected, organizers said.

Greta Berlin of the Free Gaza Movement blamed the delay on a technical problem in one of the smaller ships taking part in the mission, Ynetnews.com reported.

Some of the ships taking part have arrived at a Mediterranean gathering point while other vessels are still heading to the area, Ynetnews said.

Organizers of the flotilla said they changed the meeting point after receiving information the Israeli navy intended to intercept the boats, and refused to divulge the new location.

"We won't make life easy for Israel," Berlin said.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said "there is no humanitarian crisis in the Strip" and has characterized the fleet of aid ships en route to Gaza as "an attempt at violent propaganda against Israel."

"We will not allow violation of our sovereignty," he said.
