George Michael completes drug rehab
LONDON, -- Pop singer George Michael says he secretly enrolled in a 14-day drug detoxification program after smashing his car into a London storefront.
Michael, 47, pleaded guilty Tuesday to possessing drugs and driving while under the influence of drugs for the July 4 crash.
In an open letter to his fans, Michael said he completed the detoxification program and is receiving outpatient drug counseling several times a week, The Sunday Mail reported.
Michael said his drug use stemmed from "personal problems."
"I am sorry that my pride has prevented me from seeking help before now," the former Wham! singer wrote.
Michael could face jail time when he is sentenced next month for his seventh arrest while driving in six years, the newspaper said.
Michael was headed home from a Gay Pride event when the latest accident happened. Arresting officers described him as "wide-eyed, confused and dripping with sweat."
Told he had just crashed his car, Michael reportedly told police: "No I didn't, I haven't crashed into anything," the newspaper said.
