'Glee,' 'Lost' earn Emmy nods
LOS ANGELES, (UPI) -- The new comedy "Glee" and the drama "Lost," which recently wrapped its last season, were among the Emmy Award nominees announced in Los Angeles Thursday.

"Lost's" competition in the best drama series category includes "Breaking Bad," "Dexter," "The Good Wife," "Mad Men" and "True Blood."

Up against "Glee" for the top comedy prize are "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Modern Family," "Nurse Jackie," "The Office" and "30 Rock."

In the running for the Emmy for actor in a comedy are Jim Parsons from "Big Bang Theory," Larry David from "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Matthew Morrison from "Glee," Tony Shalhoub from "Monk," Steve Carell from "The Office" and Alec Baldwin from "30 Rock."

The contenders for the title of actor in a drama are Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad," Michael C. Hall of "Dexter," Kyle Chandler of "Friday Night Lights," Hugh Laurie of "House," Matthew Fox of "Lost" and Jon Hamm of "Mad Men."

Vying for the actress in a comedy trophy are Lea Michele from "Glee," Julia Louis-Dreyfus from "The New Adventures of Old Christine," Edie Falco from "Nurse Jackie," Amy Poehler from "Parks and Recreation," Tina Fey from "30 Rock" and Toni Collette from "United States of Tara."

Competing in the category of actress in a drama are Kyra Sedgwick of "The Closer," Glenn Close of "Damages," Connie Britton of "Friday Night Lights," Julianna Margulies of "The Good Wife," Mariska Hargitay of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and January Jones of "Mad Men."

The 62nd Prime time Emmy Awards are to be handed out at a ceremony in Los Angeles Aug. 29. The show is to air on NBC.
