Human Error Sinks Google for an Hour
Jason McIntyre
Saturday, January 31, 2009
Everything at the most popular search engine is back to normal.
A strange message appeared on Google Saturday morning.
'This site may harm your computer' was the only return from the company's main page.
The link sent a user to a page explaining that malicious software could be connected to the inquired website.
Google spokeswoman Marissa Mayer says the brief glitch was due to 'human error.'
During a scheduled so-called badware update, a box was mistakenly checked off which expanded a warning to include every documented URL.
