Jordan gives SAIC $10M in contracts

MCLEAN, Va., Science Applications International Corp. said Jordan awarded it contracts to support its Public Security Directorate and Joint Special Operations Command.

The two contracts are worth a total of $10 million.

Under the first award, SAIC will provide DNA consultancy services to Jordan's PSD in support of a forensic laboratory in Amman, Jordan. SAIC will help ensure that the new laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility to support police, security and law enforcement activities, the company said.

The contract has a five-year period of performance.

The second contract, worth $7 million by itself, has a two-year performance period and provides for SAIC to design and equip a new command-and-control center and integrate C4I system upgrades for the Jordanian's military's SOCOM.

Upgrades to SOCOM facilities and capabilities would help enhance SOCOM's ability to control and communicate with military assets during field operations, the company said.

"We look forward to supporting the Kingdom of Jordan by providing quality services that help ensure the preparedness of the new forensic laboratory, and by helping deliver improved command and control capabilities to meet JAF's (Jordanian Armed Forces) current and future needs," said Tom Baybrook, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
