A 32-year-old man is recovering from what police say was a deliberate act to strike him with a car while he was walking along a rural road.

"The victim was struck by the suspect vehicle as he was walking along the road and it is not believed that road or weather conditions contributed to the collision," RCMP from Fort Qu'Appelle said in a news release Thursday.

They said the vehicle then stopped and people inside the vehicle got out and assaulted the man.

Police said it happened Wednesday evening on a road on the Pasqua First Nation reserve near Fort Qu'Appelle, about 70 kilometres northeast of Regina.

"The victim was transported to the All Nations Healing Hospital in Fort Qu'Appelle by ambulance where he was treated for his injuries and later released," police said.

Police have issued arrest warrants for two men, aged 33 and 32, and said both will face charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

The identity of the victim was not released.
