Manson, Wood to star in gore flick
CANNES, France, (UPI) -- Shock rocker Marilyn Manson and actress Evan Rachel Wood have signed on to star in Adam Bhala Lough's slasher film, "Splatter Sisters," its producers announced.
David Gordon Green -- best known for "Pineapple Express" and "Your Highness" -- told Variety that Manson was "born to play" a role in the film described as "sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movie circa 1989."
Gordon said he and fellow producer Edward R. Pressman are excited by Lough's fresh spin on the genre.
"This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play, and with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level," Green told Variety.
The announcement was made at the Cannes Film Festival in France, Variety said.
Pressman called "Splatter Sisters" a "markedly commercial film," and adding he was drawn to "smart movies about killers made by directors with a real vision."
