RCMP are using a dog team to search for a Winnipeg woman whose SUV was found in a remote part of southern Alberta on Friday.

Marla Holdsworth's 1999 Ford Expedition was found near Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, the RCMP said. Her personal effects were in the SUV.

Holdsworth, 40, left Strathmore, Alta., on Wednesday morning after visiting family over Christmas, Const. Shannon White said.

Her car was found about 150 kilometres southeast of Strathmore and in the opposite direction from Winnipeg.

"We're certainly concerned. She was not seen after she left the residence in Strathmore," White said.

Holdsworth is 5'10", 145 pounds and has highlighted shoulder-length brown hair. She was last seen wearing a long, silver-coloured winter jacket, jeans and knee-high black suede boots.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the RCMP in Strathmore or Fort Macleod.

"We're just asking for the public to keep their eyes open and if anyone has been in contact with Marla Holdsworth, to please contact us as soon as possible," White said.
