Miyazato logs wire-to-wire Safeway win
NORTH PLAINS, Ore., Ai Miyazato fired an even-par 72 Sunday to complete a wire-to-wire victory at the Safeway Classic, ending one stroke ahead of Cristie Kerr.
Miyazato notched her fifth win of 2010, ending at 11-under-par 205, one ahead of Kerr's 10-under 204.
Kerr, ranked No. 1 in the world coming into the tourney, shot a 2-under 70 after hitting one in the water on the 18th and closing with a bogey.
She ended up sharing second place with Na Yeon Choi (71) at minus-nine.
Suzann Pettersen shot a 69 to end one stroke further back at minus-8, tied with Song-Hee Kim (72) for fourth place.
The victory will likely move Miyazato back into the No. 1 spot and also put her atop the LPGA Tour money list.
