CINCINNATI
(UPI) -- Laynce Nix ignited a three-run rally with an RBI single in the sixth inning Saturday and the Cincinnati Reds downed Cleveland 6-4 in an inter-league game.
Nix's run-scoring single gave the Reds their first lead at 4-3. Miguel Cairo followed with a sacrifice fly RBI and Brandon Phillips capped the outburst with an RBI single to lift the Reds to their fifth straight win.
Daniel Herrera (1-3) was credited with the win for getting the final out of the sixth inning, and Francisco Cordero nailed down his 20th save of the year despite allowing a run on two hits and a walk in the ninth inning.
Justin Masterson (2-7) was saddled with the loss for the Indians after being roughed up for six runs on six hits over five innings.
The loss was the seventh straight for Cleveland.
