MLB: Cleveland 3, Tampa Bay 1 (7 inninngs)

CLEVELAND, Fausto Carmona allowed an unearned run and struck out seven over five innings Friday, lifting Cleveland to a 3-1, rain-shortened victory over Tampa Bay.

The game was delayed by rain in the fifth inning and finally halted after seven.

Cleveland has won seven out of eight following the All-Star break and the Indians have captured 18 straight home games against Tampa Bay. It is the longest active winning streak in the majors for one team over another in a particular stadium.

Tampa Bay hasn't won in Cleveland since Sept. 28, 2005.

Carmona (10-7) captured his third straight start. Tony Sipp struck out three over two relief innings and picked up the first save of his two-year career.

Cleveland had a 2-1 lead when the game was first delayed and Trevor Crowe added a solo homer in the sixth.

The loss went to Jeff Niemann (8-3), who gave up two runs on five hits in five innings. The Rays fell four games behind the first-place New York Yankees in the American League East.
