KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 12 (UPI) -- Jake Westbrook's solid start Tuesday gave him his first win since April 2008 and boosted the Cleveland Indians to an 8-2 win over Kansas City.

Westbrook (1-2) tossed six strong innings, surrendering just one run on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks to notch his first victory since recovering from arm surgery.

Russell Branyan led Cleveland at the plate, socking two home runs and collecting three RBI. Austin Kearns crossed the plate three times and drove in a run in the win.

Kansas City starter Brian Bannister (1-3) allowed four runs on six hits with six strikeouts and three walks in a six-inning start.

The Royals, who dropped their sixth straight, got two RBI from Billy Butler in the setback.
