LOS ANGELES, May 18 (UPI) -- John Ely stopped Houston on two runs over seven innings Monday to pace the Los Angeles Dodgers to their eighth straight win, 6-2 over the Astros.
Ely (2-1) was tough in only his fourth career start, yielding just five hits and fanning eight while not allowing a walk in the Dodgers' latest win.
Blake DeWitt led Los Angeles at the plate, tripling twice and driving in two runs. Casey Blake stroked a two-run double in the win.
The Astros were led by Lance Berkman and Pedro Feliz, who each drove in a run as Houston lost its fourth straight.
Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez (2-5) was victimized by three unearned runs. He surrendered seven hits and two walks in 6 2/3 innings.
Ely has faced 84 straight batters without issuing a walk.
