MINNEAPOLIS, (UPI) -- Nick Swisher hit a go-ahead homer in the ninth Wednesday and the New York Yankees earned their second one-run win of the day -- 3-2 over Minnesota.

The Yankees held on for a 1-0 victory earlier Wednesday in the completion of a game that had been suspended by rain Tuesday.

The second game was deadlocked 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth when the Twins put runners on first and third with nobody out against starter Andy Pettitte. New York escaped the jam, however, when Orlando Hudson lined out to Pettitte and Joe Mauer grounded into an inning-ending double play.

Jon Rauch (1-1) came on to work the ninth for the Twins and retired Brett Gardner and Derek Jeter to start the inning. Swisher then hit a 1-1 pitch over the wall in right for his eighth homer of the season.

Pettitte (6-1) picked up the victory, allowing eight hits over eight innings with four strikeouts and no walks. Mariano Rivera worked a perfect ninth for his 10th save.
