MLB: National League 3, American League 1
ANAHEIM, Calif., (UPI) -- Brian McCann of Atlanta hit a bases-loaded double and the National League beat the American League 3-1 Tuesday for its first All-Star Game win since 1996.

McCann's seventh-inning double off Matt Thornton of the White Sox earned him most valuable player honors.

The win -- the fourth for the National League in the last 23 All-Star Games -- gives home-field advantage in the World Series to NL champion.

Matt Capps was credited with the win and Dodgers' closer Jonathan Broxton picked up the save before a sellout crowd in Anaheim., Calif.

Phil Hughes of the Yankees took the loss.

The American League managed just six hits and put up their only run of the game in the fifth inning without the benefit of a hit. Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria walked and then made it to third on a throwing error by Dodgers pitcher Hong-Chih Kuo. He scored on a sacrifice fly by New York's Robinson Cano.

McCann erased the American League's lead in the seventh with a bases-loaded line drive into right field that scored all three runs.
