OAKLAND, Calif., (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira socked a three-run homer to back a strong start by A.J. Burnett Wednesday in the New York Yankees' 6-2 victory over Oakland.

Teixeira's blast capped a five-run fourth inning that broke the game open for the Yankees.

Ramiro Pena and Derek Jeter added RBI singles in the rally, which lifted New York to a three-game series sweep of Oakland.

Burnett (7-7) collected his first win since May 30, posting his second consecutive strong outing following five straight poor starts. He held the A's to two runs on five hits over seven innings, walking two and striking out three.

A's starter Gio Gonzalez (7-6) lasted only four innings, yielding five runs on eight hits while issuing five walks.
