OAKLAND, Calif., An error by second baseman Ben Zobrist allowed Kevin Kouzmanoff to score the go-ahead run in the eighth Friday and give Oakland a 5-4 win over Tampa Bay.

The Athletics scored twice in the eighth in rallying to their fourth straight victory.

Gabe Gross drew a walk off Joaquin Benoit (0-2) to open the eighth and moved to third on a single by Kevin Kouzmanoff, who advanced to second on the throw to third. Rajai Davis lifted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Gross with the tying run and sent Kouzmanoff to third.

With two out, Cliff Pennington grounded to Zobrist, who bobbled the ball as Kouzmanoff crossed the plate with the eventual winning run.

Henry Rodriguez (1-0), who retired the side in order in the top of the eighth, collected his first major league win. He was called up Thursday from Class AAA Sacramento.

Craig Breslow turned in a perfect ninth for his second save.

Oakland overcame an early 3-0 deficit, thanks in part to a solo homer by Jack Cust.

Tampa Bay missed a chance to move into a tie with New York for the lead in the American League East. The Yankees fell to Seattle Friday.
