MLB: San Francisco 2, Colorado 1

SAN FRANCISCO, -- Darren Ford scored in the eighth inning Wednesday due to bad throws by both the Colorado pitcher and catcher, bringing San Francisco a 2-1 win over the Rockies.
San Francisco capitalized on the pair of mistakes to win its second straight and climb within three games of first-place San Diego in the National League West. The Padres have dropped seven in a row.
Ubaldo Jimenez, who failed for the fifth time to earn his 18th win of the season, walked Mike Fontenot leading off the eighth in a 1-1 game. Ford came in to run for Fontenot and moved to second on a sacrifice by pitcher Tim Lincecum.
With Andres Torres at the plate, Jimenez threw a ball in the dirt that was partially blocked by Miguel Olivo. Ford headed for third on the wild pitch and Olivo quickly collected the ball. His throw to third, however, sailed high and down the left field line while Ford dashed home with what turned out to be the winning run.
Jimenez fell to 17-6 and Lincecum improved to 12-9. It was Lincecum's first win since July 30 and he got it by giving up a run on five hits in eight innings.
Brian Davis worked a perfect ninth for his 38th save.
