SAN FRANCISCO, May 29 (UPI) -- Matt Cain gave up one hit, allowed only two runners and threw the third shutout of his career Friday, carrying San Francisco to a 5-0 victory over Arizona.

The Diamondbacks, who lost their fifth straight, managed only a one-out double by Mark Reynolds in the second inning. Cain (3-4) also hit Reynolds with a pitch in the fifth, but struck out nine.

Cain went the distance for the 10th time in his six seasons with the Giants, throwing 122 pitches.

Pablo Sandoval drove in three of the five San Francisco runs with a sacrifice fly in the third, a single in the fifth and his fourth homer of the year in the eighth.

Edwin Jackson (3-6) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs on four hits over seven innings while striking out seven.
