SEATTLE, (UPI) -- Cliff Lee went the distance in limiting Cincinnati to six hits Friday and carried the Seattle Mariners to a 1-0 victory over the Reds.

It was the fifth shutout and 16th complete game of Lee's nine-year career.

Lee (5-3) has been a victim of limited run support this season and Friday was no different but he struck out seven and did not walk a batter in bringing the Mariners their second straight victory.

The game's only run came in the sixth, which began with Cincinnati starter Johnny Cueto retiring the first two men he faced. Cueto (6-2) then hit Jose Lopez with a pitch and gave up a single to Franklin Gutierrez.

That brought up Josh Wilson, who drove in Lopez with a single to center.

Lee worked out of a jam in the first but did not allow the Reds more than one base runner in any inning for the rest of the game.
