NEW YORK, (UPI) -- Carlos Pena hit two of Tampa Bay's four homers Thursday and the Rays held on in the ninth to defeat the New York Yankees 8-6.

New York starter Andy Pettitte (5-1) lost for the first time this year and the Rays completed a sweep of the two-game series. Tampa Bay has won six straight, running the best record in the majors to 30-11.

The Rays lead the Yankees by five games in the American League East.
