MIAMI, -- Ray Allen put on a 3-point shooting display Thursday in leading the Boston Celtics to a 112-107 win over Miami.
The Heat, a popular pick to win it all in the NBA this season after adding LeBron JamesChris Bosh and to their roster, have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season and are off to a relatively modest 5-4 start.
Boston and Miami have met twice and the Celtics have won both games.
Allen made 7-of-9 3-pointers and scored a season best 35 points. Paul Pierce tacked on 25 and Kevin Garnett had 16 points to go with his 13 rebounds.
Boston has won six of its last seven.
The Celtics led by as many as 19 early in the second half and still had a 10-point cushion with just under 4 minutes to play. Allen removed all doubt by making two free throws with 7 seconds remaining for a five-point lead.
James led Miami with 35 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Dwyane Wade managed only eight points while making 2-of-12 from the field. Miami yielded 100 points for the second time this season.
