A St. John's man accused of second-degree murder is facing new charges of assault and uttering threats.

Ray Newman, 33, is accused of allegedly assaulting and threatening a St. John's man Sunday.

He was previously charged after his estranged wife, Chrissy Predham Newman, was found dead in an Airport Heights apartment in 2007.

Because of the new charges Monday, Newman is also charged with breaching a bail condition to keep the peace, which was one of the court ordered conditions he was given when a judge granted him bail after the murder charge was laid.

Chrissy Predham Newman was found dead in St. John's in 2007.

He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court to set a date for a hearing on the breach.

Newman was charged with murder on June 25, 2009 more than two years after Predham Newman was found dead.

The lengthy police investigation that led to the charge involved detailed forensics work.

Newman was ordered to spend Monday night in custody and appear in court Tuesday to deal with breaching his bail conditions.
