LANDOVER, Md., Donovan McNabb threw a scoring pass in his Washington debut Friday and Rex Grossman tossed for two TDs, lifting the Redskins over Buffalo 42-17.
The opening pre-season game for both teams featured a 77-yard punt return for a score by Washington's Brandon Banks early in the third quarter while the Redskins were on their way to a 35-3 lead. The contest featured the first appearance as Washington coach for Mike Shanahan.
McNabb, who spent the first 11 seasons of his career with Philadelphia, started the game and was 5-of-8 for 58 yards. He threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Armstrong with 1:46 to go in the first period to put the Redskins in front for good.
Grossman was 11-of-18 for 140 yards. His touchdown throws traveled 9 yards to Fred Davis in the second period and 44 yards to Jeremy Jarmon in the third.
