PHILADELPHIA, May 13 (UPI) -- Michael Leighton made 30 saves in his first career playoff start Wednesday and Philadelphia forced a Game 7 in the conference semifinals by downing Boston 2-1.

After losing the first three contests in the Eastern Conference semis, Philadelphia has become just the sixth team in history to rally from a 0-3 deficit to bring about a deciding game.

If the Flyers can win in Boston on Friday, they would be only the third team to complete such a comeback. The 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs and 1975 New York Islanders are the only clubs to win a seven-game series after dropping the first three.

The winner of Friday's game will take on the surprising Montreal Canadiens in the conference finals. Montreal knocked out defending champion Pittsburgh earlier Friday in the seventh game of their semifinal series.

The Philadelphia goals came from Mike Richards 6:58 into the first period and Danny Briere with 3:40 to go in the second.

Leighton, however, was the star of the Philadelphia show Friday, having been forced into action when Brian Boucher was injured during Game 5 on Monday. Boucher is expected to need a month to recover from a ligament sprain in his left knee, an injury that occurred when teammate Ryan Parent fell on him.

Leighton came close to recording a shutout in his first playoff start. Milan Lucic knocked in a rebound with 60 seconds left in the third period. Boston's Tuukka Rask stopped 25-of-27 shots.
