No charges are being recommended against RCMP officers who shot and wounded a 44-year-old man at the Sun Peaks ski resort near Kamloops, B.C. last fall.

Gregory McNeil was shot in the arm and leg on Nov. 25 after Mounties said he pointed a shotgun at two officers responding to a call of a man uttering threats.

The Lethbridge, Alta., police department, which was called in to conduct an investigation into the shooting, has concluded the Mounties didn't break the law and shouldn't be charged.

McNeil was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after the shooting.

Earlier this month, he was sentenced to more than five years in prison after pleading guilty to several offences, including uttering threats and weapons charges.

The firearms charges followed a police search of McNeil's home that found a hidden room containing an arsenal of weapons, including a tripod-mounted machine gun, 10 rifles, a sawed-off shotgun and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
