Oklahoma City bomb squad busy
OKLAHOMA CITY, (UPI) -- City Hall in Oklahoma City was evacuated briefly Wednesday because of a suspicious package that turned out to be a hat, authorities said.
Authorities also blocked off nearby streets while the bomb squad investigated the package, which ultimately was found to be harmless.
It was the second run of the day for the bomb squad, which earlier responded to a call about an old artillery shell found in the yard of a city residence, Oklahoma City's KOCO-TV reported.
The resident had dug up the foot-long shell, estimated to be 80-100 years old, several days earlier but didn't call authorities until Wednesday.
The city bomb squad monitored the situation until military personnel from Fort Sill could pick up the round, the TV station said.
