Plant-shaped candles a fire hazard
WASHINGTON, (UPI) -- Crate and Barrel is recalling thousands of its plant-shaped candles because they pose an unacceptable fire risk, a federal watchdog agency says.
About 5,400 plant-shaped candles were imported from China by Crate and Barrel, a division of Euromarket Designs Inc. of Northbrook Ill., and sold nationwide from February through April for about $7 apiece.
Flammable candle wax melts quickly and overflows the container, posing a risk of burn or a fire, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in announcing the voluntary recall.
The candles are shaped as succulent plants in clay pots. They were sold with SKU number 557-806.
Consumers were advised to stop using the candles and return them to Crate and Barrel for a full refund.
