SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – One of Puerto Rico's 10 most-wanted fugitives will be tried for allegedly killing the leader of a powerful sewer workers' union following his capture in New Jersey.

FBI spokesman Harry Rodriguez says Jose Juan Viera Morales is scheduled to appear Monday in a New Jersey federal court and will later be flown to Puerto Rico.

Prosecutors have said that a vacation complex manager already serving time hired someone to kill Wallis Rivera Rodriguez because he about to reveal financial wrongdoing at the complex.

Viera also was indicted two years ago on conspiracy to distribute drugs at four public housing projects in the U.S. Caribbean territory.

Rodriguez issued a statement Sunday. He said Viera was arrested Friday in New Jersey on money-laundering charges.
