Radio signal unpredictability studied
LEICESTER, England, (UPI) -- British scientists say they are studying the unpredictability of radio signals that sometimes travel beyond the horizon, interfering with other signals.
The investigators, led by University of Leicester doctoral researcher Naveed Mufti, said the information is important because reliable radio signaling is not only economically beneficial, but it is also important in terms of safety.
"The research is aimed at analyzing the data to produce statistics that will aid network designers in predicting interference between radio signals," Mufti said. "This is expected to lead to more reliable radio communication and efficient utilization of available radio resource, generating socio-economic benefits."
The research findings are to be presented Thursday at the university during the Festival of Postgraduate Research.
