News Corp. subsidiary NDS on Wednesday announced that Mediascape, a new satellite delivered digital TV platform in the Philippines, had deployed several of its pay-TV support systems -- including VideoGuard conditional access, MediaHighway middleware and a customized EPG -- as part of the rollout of Mediascape's new Cignal Digital TV service --- Telecom Fiji Ltd. on Wednesday added Gilat Satellite Networks' SkyAbis cellular backhaul solution to its satellite-backed mobile communications network. The move will allow the provider to expand its CDMA service to remote parts of the island nation where such services previously didn't make economic sense --- In an effort to promote its recent launch in the New York area, soccer broadcaster Setanta Sports will host the "Setanta Cup," an all-day soccer festival and tournament at the Field House at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan on April 11.
