SHOGUN KO'S MACHIDA TO WIN TITLE
Not too long ago, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua was considered the top 205lb fighter in the world and arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet. The Brazilian had a few stumbles during his early going in the Octagon, but on Saturday night he got back to the top as he knocked out Lyoto Machida to win the UFC light heavyweight title.

The last fight between Shogun and Machida ended in controversy after a decision went the way of the champion, while most fighters, journalists and fans picked Rua as the winner.

What's the best way to not have that controversy a second time around?

Rua came out on fire, and started head hunting Machida early and often. It was a right hand that came over the top of Machida's defense, popping him on the head and the Brazilian champion found himself on the canvas.

It was a split second later that Shogun was on the ground and in the mount, taking it to Machida. A few quick punches followed, and Machida's arms dropped to the canvas and Shogun was declared the winner, and the new light heavyweight champion.

"Lyoto is a great fighter, he's very good, and this time instead of working and focusing on my kicks, I worked a lot on my hands so I could surprise him and I was happy with my new strategy," said Shogun with the title belt wrapped around his waist.

The former Pride Grand Prix champion is now the UFC light heavyweight champion, and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua once again sits atop the division as the best 205lb fighter in the world.
