Shooting of husky becomes 'priority'
ANNAPOLIS, Md., Police in Maryland say they have made a federal police officer's shooting of a Siberian husky at a dog park a "priority."

The killing of Bear-Bear, owned by Ryan and Rachel Rettaliata of Severn, Md., has angered many dog-lovers, The Baltimore Sun reported.

A federal officer who works at Fort Myer, Va., shot Bear-Bear Monday at the fenced-in dog park. He said the husky attacked him and his German shepherd, Asia, while the Rettaliatas say the two dogs were simply playing.

Bear-Bear died later that day.

While the Anne Arundel County police originally said there was no evidence of a crime, County Executive John Leopold said Wednesday he was "outraged."

"This investigation is far from complete," Chief of Police James Teare said Wednesday. "The Police Department takes this very seriously and will continue to investigate all aspects of the case."

The shooting has become a cause celebre, with Justice for Bear-Bear groups on Facebook and efforts to raise money for his owners.
